As easy to use as a USB Mic but so much better

If you are measuring frequency response with a real time analyzer (RTA), UMI-1V2 and UMI- 2 are as easy to use as a USB microphone. You can even send signal from the computer to the system you’re testing using the audio output. The separate USB-Duo soundcard also includes a second channel. This provides a loopback connection necessary for measuring impulse response and phase.

View phase and impulse in real time

With REW you can easily capture the time it takes for the sound to travel from the speaker to the mic. With Open Sound Meter or Smaart, you can view phase and impulse in real time—an advanced process which simplifies getting the timing of your system and the phase of the crossovers correct.

High quality pre-polarized condenser microphone

Audiofrog measurement microphones include a high-quality pre-polarized condenser (electret) installed in a custom and serialized aluminum housing and are each carefully calibrated. With each one, we provide unique calibration files measured at 0 degrees, 45 degrees and 90 degrees.

Car-Cal weighted average file is provided

Because cars are a highly reflective environment in which much of the sound leaving the speaker is reflected from interior surfaces and arrives at the microphone from all angles, we also provide a Car-Cal file. The Car-Cal file is a weighted average designed to compensate for the combination of direct sound and reflected sound present in car audio systems. Use the Car Cal file with the microphone pointed toward the front of the car.

The UMi-1v2 kit is specifically designed for use in cars

The UMi-1v2 kit is specifically designed for use in cars and includes a microphone integrated into the mic stand designed to be attached to the vehicle’s headrest with a Velcro strap. UMi-2 is designed for all-purpose measurement use

UMI-2 is designed for all-purpose measurement use. Use it to tune cars or home audio systems, even commercial systems! The microphone is integrated into a folding and telescoping stand (9” – 32”).

What's included?

Both UMI-1v2 and UMI-2 kits include connecting cables and adapters and an Audiofrog USB-Duo high-performance dual channel soundcard.

Use them with your favorite PC- or Mac-based acoustic analysis software. Works with Open Sound Meter, REW, SMAART, and many others. They may work with the analysis tools included in many car audio DSP tuning software packages. Used without the USB-Duo, The UMI-2 microphone is often a suitable alternative to measurement microphones included with many home audio receivers and preamps.
